NEWPORT, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Over three months later, Newport police believe they think they have found the man who robbed a home on 8th Street. and killed the family dog, Simon.
Chris Haney was served with warrants on January 21 and charged with Aggravated Burglary, Aggravated Animal Cruelty, and Theft Over $1,000. He has since been released on $25,000 bond.
Authorities said Haney broke into the 8th Street home on November 28 and, in addition to killing "Simon," he took more than $1,000 worth of property, much of which, they noted, has been recovered.
He is also accused of robbing a home in the Clifton Heights Community in Newport in early December.
