Federal authorities arrested a Clinton man accused of robbing a Knoxville credit union over the weekend. Jason Ronald Brown was picked up at a Knoxville home shortly after 6:30 p.m., the FBI said.

Officials say Brown robbed the ORNL Credit Union, 5505 Kingston Pike, just after 11:00 a.m. After obtaining an undetermined amount of money, the suspect fled the scene, leaving behind a package.

The KPD Explosive Ordinance Disposal team responded and determined the package was a hoax device.

The KPD Major Crimes Unit, Blount County Sheriffs Office, and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force teamed up to make the arrest.
