Crimetracker: Suspect threatens to blow up pharmacy, steals drugs

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery that occurred around 10:30 Tuesday morning at East Tennessee Discount Drugs on Andrew Johnson Highway in Strawberry Plains.

According to the initial investigation, a white male approached the pharmacy counter, demanded medication, and threatened to blow up the store. After receiving the medication, he fled in a white, mid-90s, small 4-door SUV toward Jefferson County on Andrew Johnson Highway. The vehicle had a spare tire rack on the back with no tire. The driver is described as a white male, mid to late 20s, blonde hair, approximately 135 pounds.

The suspect is described as a white male, mid-40s, 6’0”-6’1”, medium build, unshaven black/grey beard, with gaps in his bottom teeth. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing wire-rimmed tinted glasses, a khaki hat, and a blue polo shirt.
