ROGERSVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Hawkins Co. Jail inmate was caught trying to make a break for it when he asked to use the restroom after being taken to the hospital on Tuesday, according to the Hawkins Co. Sheriff's Dept.
Sheriff Ronnie Lawson explained that David Shawn Harris was taken to the emergency room at Hawkins Co. Memorial Hospital. He left the bathroom, into a room next-door, and took off running. The correctional officer ran him down a short distance from the building.
Harris was being held for Felony Violation of Community Corrections and now faces an additional charge of Felony Escape. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
