CLINTON, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Three suspects are behind bars after a Clinton homeowner comes home to find burglars apparently loading his stuff into their black Ford Taurus. Three departments, the Clinton Police Dept., and the Anderson and Knox Co. Sheriff's Dept's teamed up to round them all up after one of them took off on foot.

“What a tremendous example of a coordinated law enforcement response. The assistance from both the Anderson County and Knox County Sheriff’s Departments couldn’t have been better. All officers involved were excellent.” Stated Clinton Police Chief Rick Scarbrough.

According to the Clinton Police Dept., the home's owner came home last Saturday to find the suspects loading what seemed to be his stuff into their car. He pulled into his driveway and got out. That's when the suspects rammed his car and aimed for the homeowner.

Fearing for his life, the homeowner drew his gun and fired. He managed to shoot out a tire, hobbling the car. Searching the area, the Clinton Police Dept. and the Anderson Co. Sheriff's Dept. eventually found two of the suspects, Nicholas Hedges and Amanda Webber. A third one, though, had taken off on foot.

Calling in K-9 units and the Knox Co. Sheriff's Dept's helicopter, they were able to track down the third suspect, Chris Harness, about an hour later.

All three were charged with Aggravated Burglary and Felony Theft, Harness picking up an Evading Arrest charge as well.

Chief Scarborough doesn't recommend doing what foster did, but understands he was only defending his life.

"That's an individual decision. We really don't want our citizens to get involved and confront a suspect or a criminal. Again, obviously that's a situation where somebody could get hurt," said Chief Scarbrough.
