KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Knox County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Enforcement Unit arrested a fugitive sex offender on Friday. 47-year-old Kenneth David Painter is wanted on sex offender registry violation charges by Cuyahoga County in Cleveland, Ohio and by Harris County in Houston, Texas. Painter was a registered sex offender living in Knox County in 2005, but moved out of state in 2006.
Painter was taken into custody without incident around 12:30 p.m. on Friday at a business on Kingston Pike in Bearden. He is being held in the Knox County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility on two fugitive from justice charges and will be held until his extradition to Texas or Ohio.
Painter has a criminal history in Knox County that includes possession of drug paraphernalia, simple possession, criminal impersonation, public intoxication, attempted failure to register as a sex offender, escape, harassment, indecent exposure, and fraud.
