KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- An argument over a woman preceded a shooting near Austin Homes Sunday night, according to the Knoxville Police Dept.

Its preliminary investigation indicated the victim, Byron Hartshaw, was walking with another man around 8:00 p.m. when the suspect jumped out of a white vehicle and confronted him about the woman.

Following the argument, police say, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the Hartshaw in the stomach. The 28 year-old was taken to UT Medical Center where he was treated for what were considered non-life threatening injuries.

Police noted that Hartshaw was uncooperative when they found him at the scene, refusing to give his name, age, or address. Police are continuing to investigate.
