UPDATE: Crimetracker: KPD investigating shooting during traffic incident

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Police say 55-year-old David Heier was the man who was arrested.

He's charged with DUI, Implied Consent Law, Driving on a Revoked License, Failure to Provide Financial Responsibility, Unlawful Obstruction of Driver’s View and Control, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

Police say he admitted to drinking alcohol and using illegal drugs.

The investigation continues.

Police are investigating a shooting.

It happened around 7:21 PM Saturday on University Avenue and Calloway Street.

Police say a man rammed his Chrysler 300 into another vehicle, causing shots to be fired multiple times.

The man was arrested on Middlebrook Pike at Francis Road for DUI and leaving the scene.

Other charges are pending.

Officers say the other vehicle left the scene, and haven't been found.

No names have been released.
