Crimetracker: Knoxville woman accused of binding, beating, burning kids

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A 36 year-old Knoxville woman faces child abuse charges after she allegedly handcuffed two brothers together and sat them in front of a kitchen cabinet.

One of the children told police that on several occasions the woman, Jessica Ann Cox, had handcuffed him to a kitchen cabinet with his arms above his head and beat his feet with either a rubber mallet or a rolling pin. Authorities noted his legs were swollen and he had a large, open wound his right foot.

Officers also found scars on the boy's arms and penis that were consistent with healed burns. Both kids recounted several occasions where she allegedly handcuffed them and burned them with cigarettes or incense.

He also had lacerations on his wrists, while his brother was suffering from minor abrasions on his wrists as well.

The Sheriff's Office added that Cox has a criminal history that includes possession of legend drug without prescription, simple possession/casual exchange, and theft by shoplifting.
