HARLAN COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT/WVLT) A judge sentenced 25-year-old Randy Hammons to ten years behind bars on Thursday.

He pleaded guilty in February to assault, criminal abuse, and unlawful imprisonment charges.

Police say Hammons beat a child and then stuffed him in a small freezer because the child would not stop crying.

The child's grandmother, 54-year-old Connie Jenkins, was also charged because officials say she did nothing to stop Hammons.

Sentencing for Jenkins is set for March 20.
