BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Transportation Security Administration says a loaded handgun was found in a passenger's carry-on bag.
The 380-caliber gun was found on January 26 at McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS). The firearm also had a round in the chamber.
The name of the person involved hasn't been released.
The passenger could face a penalty as high as $7,500.
Between January 24 and January 31, TSA officers found 37 firearms; 32 were loaded and 18 had rounds chambered.
TSA says fliers can travel with their firearms in checked baggage, but they must first be declared to the airline.
