Crimetracker: Man accused of stealing car while it was warming up

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Sevierville man has been arrested for allegedly stealing a car.

Around 5:06 AM on Friday, an police saw the stolen vehicle on Asheville Highway near Governor John Sevier Highway.

The vehicle's owner had just reported it stolen. He told police that he started the car to let it warm up before leaving for work.

Police say when they tried to pull over the car, 44-year-old Bill Lemka got out, ran, and jumped into the Holston River.

Lemka has been charged with one count of Felony Theft.
