Crimetracker: KPD searching for 3 men in Knoxville home invasion attack

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Knoxville Police Department is investigating a home invasion robbery that occurred Tuesday night.

Around 9:15 p.m. officers responded to a call of shots fired in the Washington Pike and Fairview Street area.

As they were canvassing the area, a woman walked up to officers. She said her husband had called her and said three men broke into their house on Barton St. and robbed him.

The victim, Jason Spiller, told officers someone knocked at his door, his daughter answered and three armed suspects pushed their way into the house and demanded money. Two of them were wearing ski masks, while all of them had on dark clothing.

One of the suspects hit the man on the top of the head, cutting him.

Spiller gave the suspects money and they took off. As they ran, one of the suspects shot at the house.

The 38 year-old Spiller said the suspects were driving a white sports utility vehicle. The victim was transported to Physicians Regional Hospital and is expected to recover.
