SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Sevierville man has plead guilty to abandoning 4 horses for months, leaving them without food or water.
Sevier County Sheriff's Animal Control officers arrested, Michael Keith Lowe, of Sevierville, in December and charged him with Cruelty to Animals. Deputies say he went to Florida for several weeks and didn't make sure the horses had proper food and water.
In court Tuesday, Lowe plead guilty to the charges and will now serve one year probation and pay fines to Horse Haven, the group that rescued his 4 horses.
According to neighbors, Lowe asked them to watch after the horses, but they called authorities in August because they were unable to afford feeding and taking care of them. Deputies have been looking for Lowe ever since, he returned to Sevier County on Friday when deputies arrested him.
The 4 horses rescued by Horse Haven in Knoxville, and have been adopted out to new homes.
