MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A man is accused of strangling his mother at their home on Wednesday, while trying to get the pain pills she keeps in her bra.

The Blount County Sheriff's Office says 33-year-old Scott Bennett told them he put his arms around his mother's neck and strangled her for two to three minutes to see if she could get away.

Deputies say Bennett told them his mother asked him to stop several times, but he didn't.

The victim says when she told him she was "about to go out," he didn't stop and tried reaching for her bra.

Bennett says he knew what he was doing was wrong.
