KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Knox County Sheriffs charged two men following unrelated dog attacks that left two injured earlier in the year, according to a release by the Knox County Sheriffs Department.

In the first incident, a woman jogging on Hoss Rd in Powell on January 6th was approached by a dog that soon after began attacking and biting her.

A man in a nearby home heard the attack and ran out with a baseball bat.

He then beat the dog back until it released the woman and ran off.

The release states Parkwest Hospital treated the woman for injuries, including multiple bite wounds on her face, arms and legs.

Deputies charged the dog's owner, Dustin Turner, on Thursday with dog at large (serious bodily injury).

Turner already was in custody at the Knox County Sheriff's Office Detention Facility on an unrelated charge.

In the other incident, a young girl playing outside her grandmother's home on Texas Valley Rd on March 9th was attacked by a dog.

According to the release, the girl received treatment from Tennova North Medical Center, the East Tennessee Children's Hospital and then UT Medical for facial lacerations received during the attack.

Deputies charged Cecil Capps, Jr with dog at large (serious bodily injury) on Friday close to noon.

The release says Capps, Jr has an extensive criminal history in Knox County, which includes assault, prohibited weapons and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both men were held on $7,500 bond at the Knox County Sheriff's Office Detention Facility for the unrelated charges.
