CROSSVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A homeowner ran out of the front door while police say a burglar broke in through the basement. But he didn't get away from officers.

It happened at a home on Sunset Drive. Officers said Scottie Lenz knocked on the door. When no one answered, he broke through the basement. The homeowner called 911 and ran to a neighbor's house for help.

Police said they caught Lenz as he searched for cash, jewelery and prescription pills.

"I heard a commotion down the hallway, and the door was partially ajar from the living room to the hallway and I could see movement. And I ordered the subject out and facedown on the floor, which he obliged, said Detective J.C. Hancock with the Crossville Police Department.

Lenz faces aggravated burglary and vandalism charges.
