KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The suspect in a string of armed robberies in Knoxville and Sevierville was captured in Kroger's parking lot late Thursday evening, according to the Knoxville Police Dept. Charles Vincent Gray was wanted in connection with several armed robberies at Subway Restaurants and a CVS Pharmacy.
He was unarmed, but highly agitated when officers found him in the grocery store parking lot, 4409 Chapman Hwy. Despite being unarmed, Gray reportedly told officers he would have shot them - if he had brought his gun.
He has been charged in connection with robberies at the Subways on Kingston Pike, Merchants Drive, and Broadway, and the CVS on Western Ave.
The Knoxville Police Dept. said they worked closely with the Sevierville Police Dept. to capture Gray. He is expected to face more charges there.
