MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT)-- A Sweetwater man faces multiple charges after leading police on a chase Friday evening.
According to Sweetwater Police, a call came in around 7:20 p.m. about a man in a car pointing a gun at several family members including two children on the 700 block of Wright Street.
When officers arrived, authorities said Steven Carter sped off, violated multiple traffic laws and crashed on Highway 322 just outside of the city limits.
Authorities said three cars were involved in the crash, and six people were injured including Carter.
Carter has been charged with numerous charges including six counts of aggravated assault, DUI and reckless driving.
Gregory Yearwood, a driver involved in the crash, has also been charged with DUI and posession of a stolen car.
