KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A 25 year-old man was arrested after police say he stole a taxicab and led officers on a brief chase through downtown Knoxville early Monday morning. Timothy Walker has been charged Car Jacking and Evading Arrest, as well as several traffic violations.
Officers first responded to reports of a car jacking in the 800 block of Howard Baker Junior Blvd. around 4:15 a.m. They say Walker held up the victim at knife point, demanding cash and his vehicle. The victim had to be treated for stab wounds.
Walker took off in the minivan taxi, but was soon spotted by police. Refusing to stop, he allegedly led officers on a short chase that ended when his "Big Orange Taxi" struck a curb and blew a rear tire near World's Fair Park Dr.
