Crimetracker: Police identify man shot in back outside Knoxville home

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Officials have identified the man who was reportedly shot several times in the back while sitting outside an East Knoxville home late Monday night.

According to the Knoxville Police Dept., 28 year-old Joshua Meek was sitting in a van, outside a home on Pleasant Knoll Lane, shortly before 11:00 p.m. when the two suspects rolled up in a purple Dodge sedan and opened fire.

Meeks was hit multiple times and was taken to UT Medical Center with what were described as non-life threatening injuries. The suspect's car took off down Brooks Road.

Police are continuing to investigate and said they will provide updates as they become available.
