WHITE PINE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A 56 year-old man has been arrested in connection with a late June murder at the Crown Inn Motel in White Pine last year, according to the White Pine Police Dept.
The body of Eddie Taylor White, 72, was found the motel, 1148 Phillips Road, after members of the White Pine Volunteer Fire Dept. put out a fire in the lobby.
"We feel like there was an alteracation between the two, for whatever reason," said Detective Chad Cotter. "We feel like Jeff got scared after he thought Eddie passed away, and we believe he set it on fire to cover it up."
He was arrested by members of the police force and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations. The investigation was conducted by the department, TBI, and the the Tennessee Bomb and Arson units.
Earlier this month, a Grand Jury indicted Jeffrey Gordan Burke for 2nd Degree Murder, Aggravated Arson, and Abuse of a Corpse.
