Crimetracker: Officer-involved shooting in Lynch, Ky. leaves one wounded

LYNCH, Ky. (WVLT) -- According to WYMT Mountain News in Hazerd, Ky., Lynch Police were called to a report of a domestic disturbance just after 9:30 Friday night on W. Main Street.

Upon arrival a male subject was identified sitting inside of a vehicle outside of the residence. The officer approached the vehicle and observed that the male subject was aiming a shot gun at him. The officer then discharged his service weapon at the perpetrator, striking him multiple times.

The male subject was believed to be Michael Blair, but that information is unconfirmed at this time.

The suspect was then taken into custody after KSP Post 10 troopers and Harlan County deputies arrived on the scene. He was transported from the scene by EMS and was later flown to Holston Valley for further treatment. His status at this time is unknown.

The officer was not injured.

Sgt. Jackie Pickrell with the Kentucky State Police is currently conducting the investigation into the incident.

Criminal charges are pending.

The suspect’s information will not be released until charges are filed.
