KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- There's still blood on the bushes outside Zaxby's on Cumberland Avenue, leaving some weary with an eventfull weekend coming up.

Thursday morning the Zaxby's manager walked to his car after closing up shop, but he never made it.

Heaven Taylor is a Manager at Zaxby's. She told us, "He left the store and two men jumped him in the parking lot, took some personal belongings and beat him pretty good with some type of object we're not really sure what it is."

Heaven woke up to a call from the hospital. Her co-worker was badly beaten. The thieves got away with paperwork.

It's enough to leave her shaken. The thought of walking to her car is now terrifying. "We have only women managers other than him. He's our only male so it scared the rest of them pretty good and I close tomorrow so," Heaven said.

All this on the eve of the busiest weekend in Knoxville: Opening day, Boomsday, and Labor Day. Police know crowds can mean crime, so they're being proactive and adding security before any problems start.

Police Chief David Rausch tells us, "Pretty much its all hands on deck, every uniform available will be working this weekend."

No arrests have been made in the assault on Cumberland.
KPD tell us they are still investigating.
