Crimetracker: Duncan III pleads guilty, resigns

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Knox Co. Trustee pleaded guilty to Official Misconduct and has resigned office. John Duncan III will escape jail, though. The son of Rep. Jimmy Duncan, Jr., (R-TN) was sentenced to one year probation.

Duncan entered the plea to the felony charge in Knoxville on Tuesday. He also agreed to cooperate with any other probes related to the $42,000 in bonuses he gave himself and others under his supervision for completing certified public administrator coursework that they didn't actually finish.

The Knox Co. Commission began investigating incentive payments Duncan gave himself and other employees for a training program they had not completed.
