NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A former Metro Nashville police officer has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for the shooting death of his wife.
Deon Cartmell was sentenced Friday by Criminal Court Judge Randall Wyatt for his August conviction of second-degree murder.
Cartmell had testified that Shari Cartmell accidentally shot herself while they were alone in their home on March 16, 2010.
