Arrest made in Knoxville credit union robbery | UPDATE

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - An arrest has been made in connection with the robbery of a credit union Thursday in Knoxville.

The FBI says William Dozier Garland, 45, was arrested just before 5:00 p.m. Monday at the Cassell Ridge Apartments.

Agents say on Thursday, Garland walked into the City Employees Credit Union on Western Ave., keeping one hand in his pocket, demanded money from employees.

It happened just before 1:00 p.m. at the City Employees Credit Union on Western Ave.

Agents say the man walked into the bank, keeping one hand in his pocket, demanded money from employees.

After getting an disclosed amount of money, he took off.

The FBI distributed surveillance pictures from the robbery and believe Garland is the man in those pictures.

Garland is expected to make an initial appearance in federal court Tuesday.


The FBI and Knoxville police need your help identifying a man who robbed a credit union on Thursday.

It happened just before 1:00 p.m. at the City Employees Credit Union on Western Ave.

Agents say the man walked into the bank, keeping one hand in his pocket, demanded money from employees.

After getting an disclosed amount of money, he took off.

Agents say the suspect from this robbery fits the description of a suspect from other robberies in Knoxville.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Knoxville FBI at 865-544-0751 or the KPD at 865-215-7212. A reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of this individual.
