JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The man deputies say was allegedly shot in the head by his father has died at U.T. Medical Center.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says 45-year-old Edward Bullard Jr. passed away around 1 AM Monday.
A warrant was issued for 69-year-old Edward Bullard Sr. for first-degree murder. He was arrested around 12:30 PM. His bond is set at $1,000,000.
Sheriff Bud McCoig says a call came in around 6:15 a.m. to a home at 375 East Dumplin Valley Road in Jefferson City.
McCoig says 69-year-old Edward Bullard called 911 saying he had shot his son.
EMS arrived and found the 45-year-old son on the floor. He was flown to UT Medical Center.
Bullard has been charged with aggravated assault and has a $50,000 bond. He is still in custody.
Joseph Donajkowski lives across the street from where the shooting happened. He woke up to police shouting.
"We went over to the window to see what it was," he says. "The officers had one man with his hands up, guns pointed at him."
Neighbors tell Local 8 News Bullard moved into that house about a year ago. They say they've never seen law enforcement called out.
"Yeah, very quiet people. They keep to themselves," Donajkowski explains.
The Sheriff's Office says Bullard is in custody. The name of his son has not been released.
The incident is still under investigation.
