JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) -- A former caregiver has been returned to Jackson from Dallas to face charges that she attacked a patient who has intellectual disabilities.
Carla Gause was arraigned Monday on charges of aggravated assault and willful abuse of an impaired adult. The 36-year-old Gause is charged in connection with injuries to a 35-year-old woman under her care through Guardian Community Living in Jackson.
Investigators say the patient had lacerations on her back and the back of her legs from a belt buckle from an April 2010 incident, according to The Jackson Sun.
Her next scheduled court appearance is July 28.
Gause is held in the Madison County Jail where records don't indicate whether she has an attorney.
