Former deputy pleads guilty to enticement charges

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A former Grainger County sheriff's deputy has pleaded guilty to federal enticement charges involving two minors.

Trenedy Monroe Brooks, 29, admitted Thursday to using a cell phone to entice two female minors to have sex with him on separate occasions last year. Officials say the victims where 13 and 16 years old.

Brooks, of Thornhill, was a deputy at the time.

Said U.S. Attorney Bill Killian said it was "disturbing enough that anyone would commit a crime of this nature, but especially a law enforcement officer, who is sworn to uphold the law, not violate it."
