Crimetracker: Foul play suspected in fatal fire

EVARTS, Ky. (WVLT/WYMT) - Kentucky State Police detectives are still collecting evidence inside the home.

Police are not releasing many details but say there is enough evidence to believe the fire and Ronnie King’s death is suspicious.

Police are combing through Ronnie King’s home looking for clues to find out what happened before he died.

“We do feel foul play is suspected, however, we can’t go into any details at this time,” Shane Jacobs said.

Police say 59 year old Ronnie King lived alone in the home.

Around 11am Monday, a neighbor saw smoke coming from the house and called 911. Firefighters called state police when they found the body.

Those who knew King say he was well-known in the Evarts community.

Dozens of people came to the scene to mourn his death.

While police determine how King died, the state fire marshal is trying to figure out how the fire started.

Neighbors say King and his acts of kindness will never be replaced in the community.

King’s body is on the way to Frankfort for an autopsy to determine how he died.
