GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (AP) -- A Germantown woman suspected of passing out on top of her 5-month-old son and smothering him is charged with criminally negligent homicide.
According to police and court records reported in The Associated Press, the child's grandmother called police Wednesday after finding Lori Lewis on top of the baby.
Lewis was unresponsive and there were several medication bottles nearby including one containing the muscle relaxant Soma.
Mother and baby were taken to Methodist Hospital-Germantown. Autopsy results are pending.
On Friday Lewis was free on $100,000 bond. A number listed for the house rang through to a fax machine.
Lewis has claimed to be Jerry Lee Lewis' daughter. At times the legendary rock and roll singer has acknowledged her as his child. But in recent years, Lewis has denied that claim.
