THORN HILL, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A raid on a Thorn Hill home on Saturday turned up thousands of dollars worth of marijuana, along with a dozen rifles and a couple of hand guns, the Grainger Co. Sheriff's Office announced on Monday.
"This is yet another strike against the drug faction," said Sheriff Scott Layel. "We will continue to take these drug dealers down until our county is safe once again."
The man who lived at the home on Birdie Coffey Lane, John Lewis Scearce, was charged with Manufacturing and Resale of Schedule VI Narcotics, Possession of Firearm in Commission of a Felony, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Scearce's bond was set at $12,000 and he is set to be arraigned Tuesday morning.
The sheriff's office said the 2.75 lbs. of marijuana recovered during the raid had a street value of $3,500. Deputies also reportedly found digital scales, hemostats, various packing material, and other drug paraphernalia.
