CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- A Hamilton County man has pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide after his girlfriend was run over and killed.
John Thomas White entered the plea on Monday.
White is 38 years old. He had been charged with second-degree murder, vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal accident in the 2009 dragging death of 27-year-old Marie Oliver. The other charges were dropped, according to the Associated Press.
Investigators said Oliver tried to get into the bed of White's truck as he left a bar and she was able to hang onto the tailgate for more than a mile. She eventually lost her grip and was run over.
White will be sentenced on July 25.
