HARLAN COUNTY, Ky. (WVLT) -- A reported car jacking incident in Harlan County Saturday night resulted in a police pursuit in West Virginia later in the evening.
Kentucky State Police in Harlan received a call from a man reporting a male and female entered his vehicle while parked alongside US 119 at Sookie Ridge shortly after 5 p.m. They forced him out of the vehicle and took it heading north on US 119 to Harlan.
Surrounding agencies were advised of the incident, and after further investigation by Trooper Craig Miller, he found the suspects may have been traveling to a location in West Virginia.
Authorities advised West Virgina officials to be on the lookout for the vehicle. Officers with the Chapmanville, West Virginia Police department spotted the vehicle in their city and intiated a traffic stop. The vehicle fled at the stop, and the driver later bailed from the vehicle and ran.
The vehicle was recovered and police in West Virginia are still searching for the suspects.
