KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Antonio Miller finally breaks his silence nine months after a gunman tried to kill him. "I wish it was me instead of her because she didn't deserve that."

In his first and only interview, Miller refers to the night his neighbor and friend, DaChanna Dotson, died from gunshots meant for him. "He hopped out the car with the gun and he started shooting." Miller told a jury "Lil Sam" Glass blasted the fatal shots after the two had a fistfight. The testimony proved too much for DaChanna's grandmother to bare.

"I just wish it was me instead of her. I wish she had never been on the porch or nothing," said Miller. Tuesday is also the first time Miller talked to Dotson's family about the killing. "She gave me a hug, she kissed me on the cheek. She knows that I'm hurt about the situation, but she's hurt too. That was her granddaughter."

Miller says while he escaped bullets that night, he can't escape the memories. "I think about it everyday, everyday."

He says there's no truth to rumors he's a snitch. Miller says coming forward in this case is simply the right thing to do. "If it was one of their children and something like this happened, they would still want me to come and help them out and testify too," Miller said.
