KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Knoxville man was arrested Tuesday night after, police say, he threw a bag containing 10 lbs. of marijuana into a brush when he noticed a nearby officer.
Eliazar Hernandez Ortiz, 24, is charged with one count of Manufacture, Delivery, Sale, or Possession of a Schedule VI Controlled Substance.
The officer spotted Ortiz shortly after 9:00 p.m. while searching for the person who robbed the Walgreens on Clinton Hwy. The officer claims he spotted a suspicious person in the 5300 block of Clinton Plaza Drive and that from a distance, he looked like the suspect.
Authorities are still searching for the man who robbed the Walgreen's Pharmacy. Employees said the suspect walked up to the pharmacy counter and handed over a note demanding pills. After getting some, he took off on foot.
The suspect was described as a thin man, about 5'9", and wearing a hat or watch cap, a long-sleeve flannel shirt, and blue jeans.
