KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Knox Co. judge on Monday accepted Mark Stephen Foster's guilty plea for the February 2010 shooting of two administrators at Inskip Elementary School, but the day was not without controversy.
Before the hearing, prosecutors asked the court to bar the media from recording the victim's statement by Elisa Luna. Several media outlets opposed the ban, arguing it would unfairly limit the public's right to know how the case was handled.
Eventually, Judge Bob McGee sided with prosecutors. He forbid the recording of Luna's statement, but did allow members of the media to stay in the courtroom as Luna and Amy Brace told the court how their lives had changed.
Luna explained that she's in pain every minute of every day, while Brace said she suffered psychologically from the shooting.
