KPD says shooting victim doesn't know who he was hanging around

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Police are investigating a shooting that happened around 1:00 AM Friday in the 1200 block of W. Scott Avenue.

Police say 44-year-old Albert Castle was shot in the calf. He was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.

Officers say Castle told them he was "hanging" with other people near the apartments on Kenner Avenue and Kyle Street.

Two guys got into a verbal fight, then one of them pulled out a gun and started shooting.

Police say the victim could not provide the identity of anyone he was with when the shooting happened.

The injury appeared to be minor.
