Crimetracker -- Man strikes concrete barrier with car on I-40 then runs

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Just before 11:30 Sunday night a man traveling on I-40 eastbound hit a concrete barrier with his car. The car then became fully engulfed in flames, and the man then ran from the scene. The vehicle ran off the road near the 17th Street exit and struck the barrier. The driver was wearing a light colored shirt and dark pants, and fled the scene toward Dale Avenue. KFD responded and extinguished the fire. KPD Hit and Run office is investigating.
