Crimetracker: Man arraigned for 2012 Smokies sexual assault and stabbing

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A 48-year old man has pleaded not guilty to charges he attacked and sexually assaulted a woman in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in June 2012.

William E. Seevers appeared in U.S. District Court in Knoxville on Thursday to face charges of attempted murder and two counts of
aggravated sexual abuse by force.

Seevers is accused of stabbing a woman in the neck then sexually assaulting her.

He is set to go to trial April 29.

If convicted, Seevers faces two terms of life in prison followed by an additional 20 years.
