SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Deputies say a birthday party took a dangerous turn when a man opened fire and then ran from deputies who showed up to stop him.

According to court records, Sevier County deputies were called to a home on Knight Hollow Road on New Year's Eve. Deputies say when they got there several kids claimed they got into a fight with a neighbor, Timmy Knight, 42, while they were celebrating.

Court document say Knight fired a shot and then confronted the children while making threats.

Deputies say they tried to arrested Knight, but he got aggressive and refused to lay on the ground. Deputies say they used a tazer on night, but it didn't work. Knight eventually ran up stairs before being caught.

Knight is charged with reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, and aggravated assault. He will be in court on January 18th.
