KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- On April 5th, the Sevier Police Department was called to Smokey Mountain Knife Works in regard to a possible shoplifter. The police say Christopher Cooper was taking items from the store in red bags, the same bags the store uses.
SPD says police conducted a search of Cooper's vehicle and found several unused red bags in the backseat and trunk, as well as over $2,000 worth of merchandise.
The police also noticed Cooper's vehicle registration had black tape on it, obstructing the ability to read the tag.
He was charged with theft greater than $1,000, possession of shoplifting tools, and altering registration.
