Man arrested for stealing medication from pharmacy delivery truck

UNION COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - One man has been arrested for stealing two medication totes from a delivery truck in Union County.

Officers responded to the Union Discount Pharmacy on Maynardville Highway around 9:45 a.m. Thursday.

Investigators believe a man took the totes and took off north on Maynardville Highway in a silver car.

Officers tried to stop the car a little while later, but the driver refused to pull over. He eventually crashed on Prospect Road.

The driver, Daniel R Myers, 35, Sevierville, tried to take off running but was quickly captured and taken to the Union County Jail.

Myers is charged with Theft Of Property Over $500, Vandalism X 2, Reckless Endangerment, Reckless Driving, Failure to Yield to Emergency Equipment, Resisting Arrest, Evading Arrest, Driving On A Suspended Driver License, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Myers has a court date on June 13 2014 and is being held under a $100,000 bond.

He also has a hold placed on him from Sevier County Sheriff's Office for outstanding warrants.

On 06/03/14 at 9:45AM the Union County E-911 Dispatch Center received a call reporting a theft of (2) medication totes from a medication delivery truck outside Union Discount Pharmacy at 2959 Maynardville Hwy. It was reported that a male subject had taken the two totes and fled north bound on Maynardville Hwy. in a silver car.

Dispatch notified the Maynardville Police Department and The Union County Sheriff's Office and Maynardville Police Chief Brian Smith located the suspect vehicle just after the subject field the pharmacy. Chief Smith was joined by Sheriff's deputies and attempted to stop the suspect vehicle but the driver refused to stop. Chief Smith and units from the Sheriff's office pursued the vehicle onto Main Street and then onto Prospect Road where the vehicle crashed. The driver, 35 year old Daniel R Myers of 669 Maplewood Circle Sevierville, attempted to flee on foot but after a short foot chase was taken into custody and transported to Union County Jail.
