Homeless man cut during fight in North Knoxville, suspect on the run

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Police say a homeless man was cut during a fight that happened around 6:45 p.m. Sunday near the railroad tracks under 5th Avenue and Cooper Street.

Officers say 33-year-old Michael Cockrum was taken to the hospital for a three-inch wide, one-inch deep cut on the right side of his stomach.

The man's attacker ran south along the railroad tracks and disappeared.

As of Monday morning, police still do not have a suspect.

The victim made it to N. Broadway and called 911.
