Man shot during fight in Harlan County, Ky

TOTZ, Ky. (WVLT) -- Kentucky State Police say a man was injured in a shooting during an argument around 11:20 PM Monday in Harlan County from a home on Highway 522.

KSP says they received a 911 call from a woman saying her fiance, Jason Jones, was in a fight with a man in their living room.

The woman and her five-year-old daughter locked themselves in a closet. While she was on the phone, she says she heard a gunshot.

When troopers arrived, they say they got the woman and her daughter out of a window from the back of the bedroom.

They say Johnny Irvin was an uncle to the homeowner and showed up unannounced and drunk.

Troopers say Irvin did not follow their commands to come outside, so they went in and Tasered.

Irvin was taken to Harlan ARH for treatment of a gunshot wound to his leg from earlier. He was later taken to Holsten Valley Medical Center.

Jones, was temporarily detained at the time for safety; however, he was not arrested.

Irvin has been charged with Wanton Endangerment 2nd degree, Menacing, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Trespass 1st Degree, Operating Motor Vehicle under the influence of Alc/Drugs/Etc 1st offense, Disorderly Conduct 2nd, and Burglary 2nd.
