Knoxville man accused of slashing man's throat

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Police responded to a stabbing under the interstate near 313 North Broadway around 6:30 PM Monday.

They say 24-year-old Coleman Walker, of Orange City, Florida, was sitting on a guardrail when 52-year-old John Rowland, of Knoxville, allegedly walked up behind him and slashed his throat with what was described as a box cutter.

Rowland was arrested a few hundred yards away on Blackstock Street.

He's charged with one count of Attempted First Degree Murder. He is being held on a $500,000 bond.

Walker was taken to U.T. Medical Center for life-threatening injuries.
