Man arrested trying to steal van from plumbers

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Officers responding to a suspicious person call in the neighborhood around Folsom Street and Baxter Ave. early Sunday morning arrested one man for trying to break in to a vehicle parked at a local plumber's shop, according to the Knoxville Police Dept.

While investigating the area, a man flagged down one of the officers and told him he saw someone break in to a vehicle at Vineyard Plumbing, 1127 N. Broadway. According to reports, police then surrounded the lot and found James Dennis Halleck, 29, inside a van. He had allegedly smashed a window to get in and was trying to start the van.

Halleck's been charged with Attempted Theft and is being held on $1,500 bond. He is also being held on an outstanding warrant from Blount Co., police added.
