MORRISTOWN, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Police say a pedestrian was killed when a truck hit him, and they think the person responsible could be his cousin.
It happened at 4:45 Friday morning on Saint Paul Road in Hamblen County.
Tennessee Highway Patrol says Freddy Leonard was walking on the side of the road when Randy Leonard drove by and hit Freddy, killing him.
Freddy's family says Randy is his cousin and isn't responsible. Family members say Freddy called Randy to help him because he was having car problems. They say Randy saw something that looked like an animal in the middle of the road, drove over it, but didn't hit it. Then he realized it was Freddy's body.
A police report says Freddy, Randy and a passenger in the car were all drinking and on drugs.
Tennessee Highway Patrol has not filed any charges yet, but the report says they are pending. Investigators will continue to look into what happened.
