Man turns himself in for molesting teen

BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- An East Tennessee man has pleaded guilty to sexual battery after calling authorities and reporting he molested a teen.

Jeffrey D. Forrester of Piney Flats entered pleas Thursday to three counts, according to the Kingsport Times-News.

Court records cited by the newspaper stated the 42-year-old Forrester called an abuse hotline of the Tennessee Department of Children's Services and reported himself. A Sullivan County grand jury returned a sealed indictment of Forrester in June.

The indictment charged him with assaulting a 16-year-old girl who has a disability.

After Forrester pleaded guilty, Assistant District Attorney Teresa Nelson described his call to the hotline as "highly unusual."

    This is a lie. She was/is not disabled and he did not voluntarily turn himself in. The charge against the Church Deacon is he raped a minor who was “mentally defective, mentally incapacitated or physically helpless." This term is used to add an additional charge when a rapist incapacitates his victim. The victim in this case is not disabled and to report that is WRONG. I would like to see a correction and apology to the victim and her family.
